Solomon Michaels Musically inclined, he has played violin, viola, cello and piano, and is often inclined to dance to the strings in any music. His tango journey started in 2004 in Seattle, WA as a follower in Jaimes Friedgen's 8th Style school. Solomon finally began leading tango in 2008, and is finally beginning to relax and enjoy it. He performed for 2010 Queer Tango Festival in San Francisco, CA, and has taught in Puerto Vallarta and La Cruz, Mexico, San Francisco and Sydney, Australia. He loves teaching beginners because every possibility is still open to them; he also loves teaching followers how to lead, and teaching anyone to change roles in the middle of the dance. His focus is to find the natural abilities already existing in each individual, and tease them up to the surface where they can be played around with; amplifying the playful connections between the partners and the music; and bringing to light the requirements of good partnership: that each partner is present and balanced, adding to the greater joy of the experience. Teachers of note include: Michael Young and Beatrix Satzinger, Charity Lebron and Sean Dockery, Jaimes Friedgen, Lera Thompson and Greg Rolnick, and his students, who have taught him more with their questions and curiosities than he'd ever thought to ask. |
